Paul Thiessen, an associate veterinarian with Poultry Health Services, was born in southeastern Manitoba and completed his BSc at the University of Winnipeg and DVM at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. Paul led the opening of PHS’s East Coast branch, replacing the verdant prairies where he grew up with the wild North Atlantic Ocean. He is currently pursuing the Master of Avian Health and Medicine degree through the University of Georgia. Paul is driven by a passion for food animal medicine—from early work in Newfoundland’s aquaculture industry to supporting poultry producers today through practical, data-driven solutions. He values collaboration, clear communication, and a balanced problem-solving approach. Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors, spending time with family, and diving into new hobby projects.
